Description:

Sign up to help out at our Summer Solstice event at Van Bibber Park, June 25th. Many of the parks natural surface trails have been impacted by erosion, which can cause visitors to create "social" trails on either side of an existing trail, lead to water quality issues and can be harmful to native vegetation. Volunteers will help construct a new section of trail as well as restore the existing trail and other nearby social trails. No experience is necessary. Volunteers age 14 and up are welcome. Register today!

Jeffco Open Space kicks off its “Big Five” Saturday trail building and restoration projects on the June 4 National Trails Day, a nationwide celebration of trails that was created by the American Hiking Society. Four other Saturday trail projects will take place in 2016 to complete the “Big Five”:

- June 25: Summer Solstice, Van Bibber Park

- July 16: Volunteer in the Valley, South Valley Park

- September 24: National Public Lands Day, park to be determined

- October 15: Fall Into Service, park to be determined
