beneficiary program.

One of the primary goals of the Mountain Connection
is to support local area non-profit groups.

In 1993, a Beneficiary Program was developed to help promote and support these non-profits. Each issue of the Mountain Connection highlights a non-profit organization that makes a difference within our community. This organization is sponsored by one of our advertisers. In addition to a feature story about the agency, the Mountain Connection features an article about the Beneficiary Sponsor, whose donation helps keep the vision of these organizations alive.

Since 1993, when its first beneficiary was designated, the Mountain Connection has donated over $80,000 to locally based non-profit organizations.  The first beneficiary was The Shadow Mountain Center for the Arts and Humanities (Now Arts Alive!). Additional beneficiaries include Friendship Bridge, Colorado Horse Rescue, New Horizons Child Placement, Senior's Resource Center, Park County Search and Rescue, Colorado Special Olympics, Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity and the Intermountain Humane Society.

Once each year, the Mountain Connection staff and volunteers receive a  ballot describing each of the proposed beneficiaries compiled by Margo Hamilton, the beneficiary coordinator. Information about each organization is provided so the staff may vote on the agency which best represents the heart of service in our mountain community.

The guidelines to becoming a Mountain Connection non-profit beneficiary are:
They must be a tax exempt 501(C)3 organization
They must serve people, animals, or activities within the community
The donated dollars must be used for a specific goal
The organization must be non-political and non-religious
Donations may not be used for administrative or organizational needs, such as salaries, equipment or office supplies.

To be considered to become a beneficiary recipient, please send us information about your organization plus proof of your non-profit status. To become a Beneficiary Sponsor and join us in support of our community, call 303 674 3701 or email.
