When Chamber Chairman Paul Ogle said he wanted the “Faces of the Chamber” on the cover of this year’s directory...well, I knew it was going to be fun. Mass emails were issued by Chamber Executive Director Jeanette May announcing that a group photo would be taken on the steps of Conifer High School—rain or shine! Naturally, it was to be rain. But chamber members came anyway. Wind was blowing, clouds were threatening. But chamber members came. Photographer Mike Quaintance was on a ladder with his rapid-shutter camera capturing multiple photos per second. We thought we were done. But, no, more chamber members arrived. We took more pictures. Then more came. But you can’t have too many. So, as the cover was being designed by Creative Director Michele Renée Ledoux, we added faces from Mountain Connection file photos. For example, if my husband, Jesse McKean, could be on the cover with our dog, Henri, then why not add Jan Switzer and her dog? Dave Watts made the original photo, so, with a little techological magic, now his wife. So did Steve Gallup. Sixty people were at the original photo shoot. The rest were imported. The goal was to show the “faces of the chamber.” It is my pleasure to bring them to you. Enjoy!
